How to choose a polishing pad:

Advantages and disadvantages of dry polishing pads:

It's easier to see your impact on the stone because you don't need to dry the stone.
You can dry polish almost anywhere, including in a client's home.
Dry polishing creates a lot of dust in the air, which is bad for you. A face mask/air filter is always recommended.
The mat heats up faster, which wears the mat faster

Pros and cons of wet polishing pads:

Keeps stone cooler for better, more consistent shine across multiple surfaces.
Pads tend to last longer than dry pads.
Capture dust particles, making the manufacturer's process safer.
A lot of water is used, which is considered waste.
Produces spray of water and sludge, making it unsuitable for work. Wet polishing is usually done in a workshop wearing waterproof materials.
Pads tend to be more expensive
